It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas...

It is crazy to me how early the retail industry has to start preparing for Christmas sales. At LoopDeLou we take the summer to figure out if we are going to offer any new products and designs for the upcoming holiday season.

This is actually my favorite time of the year, because designing the Christmas collection is so much fun. But as I think about how early we have to start preparing it makes me ponder a few things........

As many of you LLDLC (loyal loopdelou customers) know, LoopDeLou is a Christian based business. Our lives individually are based on yearning to be more and more like Christ, so naturally that flows over into our business, as it should. So it can sometimes be difficult to not get swepted up in all the "Holiday Hoopla" that pervades the retail industry.

I mean Christmas cards are just so cute. As I was thinking about it though, maybe it's not such a bad thing to start preparing for Christmas in June. As commercialized as Christmas has become, as Christians we must strive to remeber what the holiday is all about. So being reminded of Christ's birth in June is a welcoming thought to me.

Although I'm not ready to start playing my Ray Charles Christmas Classics cd, I am thankful that this time reminds me to slow down and recognize the reason for my existence at all: to worship the creator of the universe and to celebrate His son coming to this earth to redeem his people. This is really what we should be celebrating each day of the year.

I'm not sure how I feel about stores putting up Christmas trees when it is still 95 degrees outside, but I do know that seeing them requires me to stop and be thankful for Christ's ulitmate sacrifice and welcome all the goodness that is Christmas.
