A Tale of Four Southern Ladies in the Big Apple
(Part 1)
We have returned from New York. And I must admit, I don't think I'll ever be the same. I saw Luke Wilson. That's right. He's famous. I saw him twice actually. Once in Greenwich Village and once in the air port. I think we were destined to meet. But I was too chicken to say anything to him. 'Cause I'm all cool like that.
Anyway...we had such a great time. I am so thankful for people like Jill and Dara who lead people like Allie and me around. I didn't have to use my brain one little bit to figure out which subway line we should take. They just did that for me. And that just makes me happy.
Jill and I arrived Friday to set up our booth for the National Stationery Show (NSS). We were very thrilled that it only took us five hours to do. That way, we had all day Saturday to play in the city! The weather on Saturday was not great though. It was rainy and very cool. But that didn't stop us. No ma'am it didn't. But I must say, that if you are ever in the city and you know you are going to be walking, try not to place cute shoes in your list of what's important. I made that mistake. And my little toe is very sad that I did. By the end of the day I had to stop and make a flip flop purchase. My toes were ever so grateful.
Allie and Dara arrived on Saturday and we met for brunch at this fabulous little restaurant called "Sara Beth's". It was right across the street from Central Park and they had the best coffee ever. After our brunch we decided to walk through Central Park. It was so pretty. We took some cute pictures and then decided that we really should get to shopping. That was of the utmost importance after all. So we got in a taxi and told him to go to Greenwich. Little did we know, that our taxi driver needed a huge dose of nerve pills. Can anyone say "on edge"?
A little known fact about Taxi's is that they do not take into account people with motion sickness. Actually, in our experience, they really don't take into account that there are actually people riding in the car with them. All of our faces were a little bit pale when we reached our final destination. After that, we discovered that the Subway was a much better idea.
We shopped and we ate, and we ate and we shopped. And we walked. And walked. And walked. And walked some more. That way we really didn't have to worry about all the cheesecake we were eating. Which I think is the perfect situation. Cheesecake in New York is like heaven right here on earth. We stopped into this little bakery and I had the best cheesecake I have ever put into my mouth. If I could write a song about it, I would. But I wouldn't sing it, because that would just ruin the whole experience.
And we also did a show, which was the whole reason for going to New York. Stay tuned for another episode of "A Tale of Four Southern Ladies in the Big Apple". I'm sure you just can't wait!
